Grady Kinghorn started Kinghorn Construction in 1979 and the company has since evolved from subcontracting to General Contracting. As a design build firm, Kinghorn Construction works with clients through all stages of the construction process. This allows Grady and his team to really get to know their clients through the planning process, and facilitates providing a project that meets clients’ requirements, stays within budget, and creates lasting relationships. This is why Kinghorn Company has succeeded in being built on repeat and referral business. Of the hundreds and hundreds of projects Kinghorn Company has done, more than fifty are right in Rogers, MN, their home since 1979.
Grady earned degrees from the University of Minnesota in Business, Economics, and Accounting. He is a U.S. Navy veteran from the Vietnam Era and enjoyed the time he spent on both an aircraft carrier and Midway Island.
Grady serves on the Board of Directors for the I-94 West Chamber of Commerce and on his church leadership team. He donates time and resources to many different community organizations and causes. In his spare time, he collects antique tractors, vintage cars, and farm antiques. Many of the decorative items at the Kinghorn office came from the Kinghorn family farm in Rogers, established in 1860. He and his wife Sandy enjoy skiing in Colorado and spending time with their children and eight grandchildren.
John Kinghorn has worked full-time at Kinghorn Construction since 2003. He started his construction career in 1995 as a laborer for a home-building company, then worked for a residential finish carpentry company while working winters in Colorado. He graduated from Minnesota State University in Mankato with a degree in Construction Management and is a LEED Accredited Professional.
John works with clients at every stage of the process, from initial client meetings and the preconstruction phase to project management and on-site supervision. He enjoys the people he works with and the variety of projects. One of the most rewarding parts of his job is working with clients from the very beginning, when they may not even have land, and helping bring their ideas to reality.
In his spare time, John likes to spend time with family and enjoys water sports and snow sports. He spends time on the Mississippi River during the summer, and each winter, he and his family travel to Colorado to ski.
Chuck Edwards has more than 30 years’ experience in the construction industry, starting out as a carpenter apprentice and eventually establishing his own business in commercial interiors. He worked with Kinghorn Construction for almost 20 years as a subcontractor. As a longtime partner, building projects together and sharing the same standards of quality, commitment, and passion for construction, Chuck joined the Kinghorn team in early 2018. He primarily works with new clients throughout all phases of the project, including estimating, budgeting, and overseeing projects in the field as project manager. His specialties include retail stores, medical facilities, office, warehouse, industrial, restaurants, and churches.
In his role, Chuck enjoys connecting with clients and finds the work rewarding. He is enthusiastic about the types of projects Kinghorn takes on and the impact they have on their customers’ businesses.
Chuck has always been passionate about construction, even as a little kid. In his spare time, he and his wife spend time with family at their cabin in Wisconsin. Chuck enjoys the outdoors, fishing, kayaking, and hiking, and recently completed a weeklong solo hike across Isle Royale.
